What to get Before or after my first lesson

Hey! So if you’re here, we’ve probably just had or are about to have our first lesson! Thanks so much for taking lessons with me. Here’s a short list with Amazon links to the stuff you’ll need to pick up. Click the links to head over to Amazon*.

-Book: The book we’ll use is called The Snare Drummer’s Tool Box. It’s a great first book with some fun exercises that get you moving pretty quick.
-Sticks: I’m a big fan of Vater drum sticks! I think they make a great product and the Vater 5A size is a solid choice for our lessons.
-Practice Pad: Evans Real Feel makes a great practice pad that you can use to practice at home and not drive everyone out of the house.
-Metronome: These days almost everyone has an iPhone or iPad. The best (Free!) metronome app that’s available is called TempoLite by Frozen Ape. It’s also available on Android. If you’d rather not do an app, then you should pick up the Korg MA-1BL as it’ll do most of what we need at a reasonable price.

-Other Accessories (these are optional but really helpful): a Music Stand, a Stick Bag, or a Combo Bag for music and sticks. I have one of the combo bags and I LOVE it!

If you have questions about any of this, feel free to ask. I’m here to help any way I can!

*By the way… most of these links that head to Amazon are affiliate links, so I get a little bit for recommending these items to you. Just FYI… I use everything I recommend.
